Prepare to be dazzled. In Vietnam there are more experiences to enjoy than there are ingredients in a bowl of pho. From the buzzing city of Ho Chi Minh to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed town of Hoi An, this is one trip that will leave you with a full belly and plenty of memories.

Day 1 Ho Chi Minh
Your guide will meet you at the airport for your hotel transfer. Then it’s time to head out on a vintage Vespa to discover the sights of Ho Chi Minh City after dark. Of course, there’ll be plenty of opportunities to taste street food at local restaurants.

Day 2 Ho Chi Minh
Visit the Cu Chi tunnels, an immense network of connecting underground passages used by the Viet Cong as hiding spots during combat. Then it’s back to Ho Chi Minh City by speedboat.

Day 3 Ho Chi Minh
Today, get your walking shoes on for a tour of the ‘real’ Ho Chi Minh City and plenty of delicious food. Start at a pho place that’s been serving noodle soup for more than 35 years. Sit down for a picnic in a local park with a famous fortune-telling temple nearby. Finally, transfer to Ho Chi Minh airport for a flight to Da Nang.

Day 4 Hoi An
Visit Hoi An’s Cam Thanh village known for coconut jungles and rice paddies. Transfer to the Coco River for a bamboo basket–boat ride to Thanh Dong village and the only organic farm in Hoi An. Explore the Thu Bon River by kayak.

Day 5 Lang Co
Head to Lang Co and head out in a local boat to enjoy the water and spectacular views of the jungle-covered Annamite Range. Try your hand at the local fishing techniques and visit families in the village, where you’ll have lunch in an authentic stilt house above the waters of the lagoon.

Day 6 Lang Co
At Bach Ma National Park a local forest expert will lead an eight-kilometre hike along sub–tropical forest trails. Visit the Ngu Ho Lake and Do Quyen Waterfall. Transfer to Hue, a city renowned for its historical monuments. Visit the home of a local family to see traditional dishes being mad, then ride to the citadel to visit a doctor of herbal medicine and his shop.

Day 7 Hue
Depart from Hue for Phong Nha with a stop at the Ben Hai River and Hien Luong Bridge. After checking in to your Phong Nha hotel, take off on a biking trip around Bong Lai Eco-Village. Finally, a boat journey along Son River will deliver you to the Phong Nha Cave.

Day 8 Phong Nha
It’s a 90-minute drive from Phong Nha to Paradise Cave. This 31-kilometre-long cavern is the largest in the area. You’ll stop for lunch outside then go zip-lining and kayaking on the Chay River. Don headlights and specialised equipment to explore Dark Cave, with an optional swim in the cool water of Thuy Tien Lake inside.

Day 9 Phong Nha
Today, explore Phong Nha–Ke Bang National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Hike through lush jungle, learning about the culture of the Ruc Ca Roong people. When you reach Pygmy Cave, the fourth largest cave in the world, set up camp for the night.

Day 10 Hang Over Cave
Spend the day underground, exploring the amazing world of Hang Over Cave. After hiking out of the jungle, you’ll catch the overnight train to Hanoi.

Day 11 Hanoi
From Hanoi, head to Pu Luong Nature Reserve. Cross the epic suspension bridge over the Cham River and arrive at a local fisherman’s house. There you’ll gear up for a rafting adventure with Dinh and his team, which will take you to scenic Tan Lap Bridge. From here, you’ll be taken back to Pu Luong Retreat for dinner.

Day 12 Hanoi
An early start this morning as we descend into the beautiful valley facing the retreat, where you’ll walk around tumbling rice terraces. Trek along small paths shrouded in vegetation finishing at a picturesque village at the base of a towering mountain.

Day 13 Hanoi
You have the chance to get a taste of village life and interact with locals living in the hills above the retreat. Explore working farms and rice fields, and learn about making rice wine and weaving colourful textiles. There’s also lunch with a local family.

Day 14 Hanoi
Enjoy a little bit of free time, then transfer to Hanoi Airport for your onward flight.
